KYUSHU REGION

Kyushu is home to Mount Aso, which, with an altitude of 1,591 metres, is one of the largest active volcanoes in the World! The tectonic activity in the region makes it the ideal place to visit a hot spring; the Beppu springs are reputed throughout Japan for their healing properties.

The island is also famous for its porcelain, originating from the towns of Arita or Imari and its historic towns such as Kumamoto, a feudal town since the 17th century. In the very South of the island, Yakushima Island will impress you with its luxuriant scenery, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The JR Kyushu Pass gives you access to JR Kyushu trains for 3 or 5 consecutive days, allowing you to discover the charms of the third largest island in the land of the rising sun. There are two types of passes: the All Kyushu Area Pass and the North Kyushu Pass.

***\nIt was really good experience, we saved a lot of money getting the JR pass, we have traveled safe and fast all around Japan. We also used JR lines in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, I was almost forgot about Narita Express, the best link between Narita Airport and Tokyo. It’s worthy!

We saved a ton of money utilizing the JR Pass. It was confusing at times what cars we could get on, but we did it. The cars were so clean and the workers were very helpful in guiding us.

Overall experience was excellent, the early morning arrival in Tokyo at Haneada Airport the wait for the office to open and number of people waiting was an unpleasant part of the journey.
